One nice bit of reading practice I get is from the '3-minute Easy Japanese News' a 'mail magazine' service sent out by Yumei, a Japanese teacher in Tokyo. It is fantastic to have the reading come to your email inbox where you will actually get around to reading it (takes the need for will power out of study!)
It first has the original (very) short article, followed by the article with readings given for kanji compounds, then a glossary with English meanings for all vocabulary. It is probably most suitable for a JLPT N3 learner, and you can sign up here! 3分!かんたん!にほんごニュース http://nihongo.okoshi-yasu.com/index_e.html
